Kitewood announces two new developments at Altira Business Park in Herne Bay

Work has commenced on two new Headquarters buildings for local Kent high tech companies at Altira Business Park, Herne Bay.  The two design and build premises commissioned by ICOM and JT Biosciences total 32,000 square foot of office and warehouse space.  The buildings are nearing completion and are due to be occupied this summer.

Kitewood announced the deals this Spring. Grant Drummond, Kitewood Commercial’s Director, “Our expert team are managing the project for ICOM and JT Biosciences including the design of their bespoke premises and the buildings have started construction.  We are delighted to welcome these local Kent companies to this superior Business Park which offers occupiers excellent transport links and employment resources.  Altira Business Park now houses a Premier Inn and Table Table restaurant for visitors and residents which have opened this May, we also have the Driving Standards Authority on site, in occupation.  We anticipate that other occupiers will see the benefits that Altira can bring to their future business accommodation plans and will be announcing future land deals shortly.”  www.altirapark.com

Haydock Avenue, Northolt
Kitewood are shortly to commence building in Northolt a new affordable residential scheme for Shepherds Bush Housing Association.  Northolt House, on Haydock Avenue comprises of 42 one, two and three bedroom flats over four storeys.  There will be private and communal gardens, as well as an integral children’s playground.

Southbury Road, Enfield.
Kitewood has announced that construction of 123 mixed tenure flats will commence in April ’08 for London & Quadrant and Tower Homes.  There is also 4,500 sq ft of retail space to be marketed by Gooch Cunliffe Whale.  In keeping with Kitewood’s drive towards zero emissions, this new mixed use scheme will perform to a BREEAM rating of Level 3, for sustainability.

Southbury Road, Enfield Kitewood have successfully won a planning appeal to build a new scheme of 123 affordable flats and 4,000 sq ft of retail accommodation at a density of 417 hrh. The development has highly sustainable features including: green roofs, children`s playground and a car pool that supplements the 0.72 per dwelling car parking provision. As with other Kitewood schemes the design enables it to be system built, another sustainable feature. The design and planning team who include Dunnett Craven, architects and Rolf Judd, planning consultants, are sincerely to be congratulated.

Kitewood has successfully won planning permission to build a 100% affordable housing scheme for 42 flats in Heath Road, Hounslow. The scheme designed by architects, Inglis Badrashi Loddo is based on the plan and concept of an 18th century manor house.

307 Beulah Hill, Croydon, London SE19: Another successful housing scheme has been completed this month in Croydon, developed by the Kitewood Group.

The scheme is comprised of 37, one and two bedroomed apartments, with level access parking for 27 cars in three individual blocks. Tenure is mixed, notably shared ownership and rented affordable. The scheme was designed and built in partnership with Registered Social Landlords, who will manage the buildings: L&Q Group and Tower Homes. The buildings were designed to suit their specification requirements and provide high quality and much needed affordable housing within the Borough. The principal contractor was The Oakwood Group.

Kitewood purchased the site and secured a detailed planning consent which was sympathetic to the environment, existing amenity and ecology of the site. The scheme design was focused around the retention of a magnificent 500 year old Cedar Tree.

East Sussex: Construction has begun at Beacon Community Centre, Kitewood’s £6m affordable housing development at Crowborough.

The scheme had been delayed for 36 months, whilst the Kent development group successfully overcame a planning refusal and a common land claim.

Comprising 46 three bedroom semi-detached dwellings, the scheme will be operated by Moat Housing and Downland Housing Association following its completion in late 2006. Its occupants are largely expected to be keyworkers from Crowborough and the immediate area.

Kitewood director, David Tatterton says: “Although access to the Beacon site is via an existing residential estate and planning consent had been won at appeal, East Sussex County Council took the unprecedented step of requesting a DoE public enquiry over village green status. Its subsequent ruling allowed the scheme to proceed, albeit more than 18 months later.”

MUCH NEEDED BY-PASS FOR HILLBOROUGH

The go-ahead to build new houses in the Thanet village of Hillborough will lead to construction of a much needed by-pass to relieve high street congestion, especially near Reculver Primary School.

Canterbury City Council has granted Kent property developer, Kitewood, planning permission to build new homes at Hillborough Farm, a brownfield site at the edge of the village.

Kitewood has also purchased an adjoining site enabling it to apply for planning to complete the by-pass, perhaps by as early as summer 2007. The provision of the new road through the Hillborough Farm and adjoining sites is an objective sort by Canterbury City Council in its planning policy for the area. Planning permission for Hillborough Farm provides for 98 new houses, 29 of which will be affordable dwellings.

Kitewood spokesman, Paul Watkins says: “Hillborough high street is narrow, and in some places, without any pavement at all. Consequently it becomes congested when children are taken to, and collected from Reculver School. The new by-pass will effectively steer all through traffic away from the village, improving the environment for all residents.”

SE London: Construction has begun at Kitewood’s £4m affordable housing development at Plumstead High Street in the London Borough of Greenwich.

Comprising 27 one, two and three bedroom flats and houses, the scheme will be operated by London & Quadrant and Tower Homes following its completion in late 2005.

Kitewood director, Joe Crawley says: “This is a typical example of the company’s involvement in the affordable housing sector in London, the current development programme of which is in excess of 300 units.”
